Special Presentation: The Final Bouts of Louder Than a Bomb Omaha, 2012

Hello, and welcome to a New Timey Podcast Network Special Presentation, the Final Bouts of Louder Than a Bomb Omaha, 2012.

A bit of background, Louder Than a Bomb is a poetry competition generated and curated by the Nebraska Writers Collective. Over the first three months of 2012, talented poets and writers worked with 12 area high schools to grow and coach slam poetry teams, which then had a eight-round competition in April to narrow the field to just four teams.

The four finalists were Bellevue West, Creighton Prep, Duchesne Academy, and Lincoln High School, who then met at Creighton University's Harper Center in front of a capacity crowd of 500 people and a live-streaming audience of hundreds more to battle for poetic supremacy.

As the live hosts Matt Mason and Andrew Ek say, though, it's not about the points. It's about the poetry. And the poetry on display here is just phenomenal.

Thank you so much for listening. If you like what you hear, share it, review it on iTunes, and if you can, donate to support The Nebraska Writers Collective via the Louder Than a Bomb website. Your donations may even support New Timey's future development and growth with this project.
